Autumn is here.

Shorter days mean early dog walks begin in the dark. This morning it was blowy but not cold. So far, no real frost but I've harvested the squashes just in case. This is a time of change for the animals who will are well aware of the change of season. The horses are still out at night but know that soon they will be spending their nights in the stable. They are a pair of softees, who enjoy being warm and fed inside. All summer, they turn their noses up at hay, but now as the grass becomes less sweet, they are happy to eat it!

Last of the Berries..

The days are getting shorter. This morning, out early with the dog, owls were still hooting as we walked under late stars. We disturbed the white heron down by the river and noticed brambles and elders hanging on to the last of this years fruits.

Octoberon!

A wet and windy start to the month. Sketching out these honesty seed heads put me in mind of the Barclay James Harvest LP, Octoberon.  It featured a fairy king figure adorned with mother of pearl. Back in the day of 'album covers', I remember spending hours in record stores admiring the artwork and often buying on the strength of the artwork - many musical discoveries were made that way.
